This is
it! Today was the day that we had been
planning for! June 10th, the
day we head out on our 3 ½ week adventure, also known as “The Millers Take
Florida (and every state in between)”.
For months our kids have been chanting “DISNEY, DISNEY!” every few
moments in preparation for this trip.
Little did they know how long we would need to drive before we got to
that magical destination!
Sunday we
traveled to the Jamestown area to celebrate great-Nanny’s 90th
birthday. On the way home we had one
belly that didn’t fare so well and after puking and discovering Sadie to have a
pretty good fever, we thought our trip was going to have to be postponed.
But she, and
the other two, are troopers and we made it all the way to Grandmommy and Pop’s
outside of Greensboro, NC at 10:30 p.m.!
It was an adventurous day, complete with two stops at markets in two
different states (both named “The Country Cupboard”) and becoming well acquainted
with Tropical Storm Andrea. We drove all the way to North Carolina and saw dry
roads for less than 200 miles. J.L. said
it was some of the worst driving he had attempted in a long time.
But we made
it safely and everyone was in great spirits the entire time! In total we logged 640 miles in 14 hours and
are already closer to Disney than we are to Houghton!
Now for fun
with Grandmommy, Pop, Aunt Bekah, Uncle Noah, Aunt Gracie, Aunt Faith and Aunt
Hannah!
Today we hang out with JL's family before heading out tomorrow morning.
