At the tender ages of 20 and 21 Heidi and JL made the public commitment of marriage. Together we made the naive promise to live life in a way that focused first on being in the places that God has called us.
These easily spoken words became crystalized two years in to our marriage when Heidi won her battle with cancer. While we could not fully articulate it at the time, we both came to realize in a very deep way that life is a precious gift. A gift that is surprisingly easy to waste away by daily deciding to accept average but one that is more precious than imaginable when you recognize it's value. We have decided as a couple and as a family to live a life without regrets. This choice has not always been easy and often comes at great cost. But God has regularly reminded us how precious life is and how fleeting our time with our children will be.
This goal plays out in a number of ways but one of the most prevalent is the time we spend together traveling! We love to see new sites, meet new people, and experience new adventures. Our trips were mostly contained to vacations, mission trips, and youth retreats until JL took a job requiring a great deal of travel. For two years JL travelled the country representing a college and was seldom doing so alone. Together as a family we logged over 20,000 miles, spending countless hours together on adventures that fill our memories with joy even today.
While work no longer requires JL to travel our love for being on the road together has grown. After years of talking about it, we finally have started a blog to serve as a diary for our adventures together.
