Around the world in half a day!

Day 14 – EPCOT and Fantasmic!

On Sunday we checked out of one resort, loaded the car, drove across town and checked into another resort!  Since it was a lot of work to load and unload 5 peoples stuff for a 3 week trip, we decided to reward ourselves with chocolate chip pancakes on the porch!

Then we headed to EPCOT, stopping off to get our free picture with the characters behind the black curtain.  Our kids were thrilled when they discovered it to be Goofy and Minnie!  Sadie was especially excited as we had painted her toes with Minnie Mouse and Minnie just couldn't seem to get enough of that!  She even asked the photographer to take a special picture, just of Sadie's toes!

We had yet to do the World’s showcase portion of EPCOT and decided today was a good day to remedy that!  So, we headed there and traveled country by country seeing the sights along the way.  Silas was unimpressed and kept saying, “Where are the rides?  This isn’t Disney, it’s just looking at a whole bunch of stuff from around the world.”  I don’t think he understood Walt Disney’s vision.

Sadie, on the other hand, was thoroughly impressed!  Because we went on one of the busiest days of the year, there were princesses everywhere!! Belle and Aurora were in France, Alice in England, Snow White in the Netherlands!  It was not until we found Mulan in China that Sadie looked at me and said, “Mommy, I think I’ve seen enough princesses for today.  I don’t know if I can handle more than one at a time.”
When Sadie met Sleeping Beauty she kept putting her fingers in her mouth and making a silly face and Princess Aurora said she looked like a little monkey.  Silas got so excited and yelled across the patio, “She IS our little monkey! She can climb anything!”  Aurora said that was lovely and Sadie might fit in nicely in the kingdom, that maybe she could make friends with the dragons.  To which Sadie responded, “I’ll CLIMB the dragons!”  Then she had to prove herself, so she went over and scaled the light post.  Literally.

After seeing as much of the world as one 5 year old boy could take, we rushed over to Hollywood Studios for the night show, “Fantasmic”.  I think that it has changed Sy’s life forever.  He can’t seem to go anywhere without conducting some music or expecting fireworks to fly from his arms if he raises them just right.  The show was fantastic and we were really happy to experience it with 5,000 of our closest friends.  And of course, princesses.

After the show was over I came to the quick realization that it might take the rest of our lives to make our way out of the theater and back to the stroller, so I convinced J.L. to go on ahead and ride “Tower of Terror.”  It didn’t really take much convincing at all.  He ran ahead and was just getting off when we were arriving at the exit.  The ride was appropriately terrifying.

Tomorrow is a BIG day and we cannot wait!!
